Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:04] So I was asking the other day, you know, how I fit everything in and why I choose what I choose to do from a health standpoint, exercise, all that stuff. And it kind of comes down to my individual health philosophy. So I want to live the longest life I can, but I want it to be the highest quality possible. So I wanna have all the energy I need. I wanna be able to play with my kids. I want to be able move around when I'm older. I'm gonna be able go and climb mountains and walk up big hills and climb stairs and that type of stuff. I see older people who, even their 60s and 70s, who can't move around. They can't, you know, if they went to see, you know, the pyramids, they went to go see, you know Italy, it would be hard to walk around, you know and do those sort of things. You know, they couldn't, you know go hiking in the mountains and stuff like that and, you know like we're taking our kids, you know in about two weeks to go on a big hike and you know stuff like that so I want to make sure I have that ability and so the way I kind of look at all of the stuff as far as between today and is if someone smokes a pack of cigarettes, it's not great right now, but it doesn't have a lot of long-term problem. If you smoke a pack a cigarettes every day, it's gonna radically decrease your life quality, your life expectancy, and it's just gonna make kinda life miserable. There's a lot things people are doing that are gonna be the same as smoking.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:34] Taking in the microplastics, taking in all the atrazine, taking all these, not properly detoxing all the trash that we have in our food, water, and air, not getting their nutrients in over time. People with long-term iodine or long- term selenium or long time deficiencies of any nutrient, D, whatever, increases the damage to the cells. And so they end up getting older before they should. And so that's one of those things I've started kind of putting into my repertoire is, you know, I want to cover as much as I can without making my life super difficult. I want to keep the things in that I enjoy, even if they cause damage. And so that's kind of where all my stuff has been. So when I moved to an exercise routine that is more functional, it was that with that mind, I had to make sure core strength was good. I had to make I could bend over and lift 50, 60 pounds with my back. So that my back was strong enough to carry things and to function through life. And then we had to make sure that we were taking care of all of our daily needs and then took care of our future needs. One of the things that I wanted to do was I wanted a knock all the fat off my body and I wanted get you know gain all the muscle tissue and so I had to figure out a way to do that but do that in a way that doesn't damage long-term health.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:53] This is probably one of the thing I see the most most people for is because they want to lose the fat. They want to gain the muscle tissue. They want increase their energy. They wanna increase their sex function, sex drive. That's the thing. And when you make their sleep better, you know, all those things that increase quality of life and at the end of the day, really increase longevity of life. But when you start adding them in, if you add them in the proper way, it doesn't really affect today's quality of live. And so that's kind of where all this that this can come from. So, you know, if you're one of those people who are like, you know, I would like my life to get easier, I didn't want to have all the fat, I do want to build the muscle, you don't that type of thing, then what I would recommend that you do is start adding things in slowly, you have one at a time as they fit in your life. One of the things that I have a lot of fun doing is helping people fit this stuff into their life. Because I've worked with so many people and trying to figure out how to get where it needs to be. That's been one of the thing system really fun for me. But it doesn't matter. You don't have to dial yourself up to the 10. If you're a two, a three is a big improvement. Like if your health quality, like if you're not doing anything and your health is basically a two. A three is giant step up. It's 50% more than you are now. Like it's a big, big move.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:13] So people ask me like, well, what's the best thing to add first? The best thing that add first is gonna be your hormones. It's the easiest thing. It's going to be one of those things that it was going to make the biggest step forward. So I would add the hormones in first. So I would get your blood drawn wherever you're going to go get your blood drawn and make sure your hormones are up where they're supposed to be. Testosterone is going to be the big one to really kind of focus on it first because it's the easiest thing to do. You're going take a shot, you're gonna use a cream, whatever you're going to do, get those testosterone levels up. And as the testosterone levels come up, you can start to heal. You can start, everything starts kind of coming back together. The next thing I would do is start working on your diet a little bit. Start trying to pull the processed foods out. Uh the you'd be shocked at the amount of health benefit you get from going back to more natural things You know, you're a natural being eating natural things should just make sense Uh, one of the like I mentioned this a lot in preservatives, you know they're there to preserve the food, keep it from molding, keep bacteria from eating it. Well, your body uses bacteria to break things down.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:20] And so if you have things that are in the foods you're eating that prevent bacteria from working and or kill bacteria, it's a really bad idea to put in your gut. Because now you're basically taking a very low grade antibiotic every time you put those chemicals in your body. It's flushing out your gut flora. So and your body can't break it down properly, so move to more natural foods, you know. If you're getting it from a window, it's probably not the best thing in the world, which means you're gonna have to start cooking a little bit more and that can be daunting, but there's recipes all over the place. Get an air fryer and knock yourself out. It's funny because people are like, well, I heard air fryers, isn't that, anything you put from your house in an air fryer that's clean to begin with is gonna be way better than anything you get out of a window or a box or from a delivery. So you're making a step up, just. Try to figure some stuff out, it's going to be difficult and you're going to mess stuff up and it's gonna be funny, let it go, figure out what you did and just move on. Those two things I think will be some of the best ways to start. And that's before we start talking about any of the other stuff. Once you kind of get those two things down, then I would start cleaning out the gut. And so this is not exercise yet. I would just clean the gut out.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:27] So like we do the kill and refill where we kind of knock out all the bad stuff and we put all the good stuff back in, takes about five weeks. You're killing the parasites, the yeast, the bad bacteria, then you're cleaning all that out. You're restoring the probiotic function. You're rebuilding the gut flora with both diet and with supplementation. And you're feeding the liver and the kidneys so they can detox properly. So, you know, then we kind of go into a maintenance function. So that's kind of how we do that one Then we start exercising and the reason that I have people do it in that order is because If you get the the exercise is actually kind of a time-committed thing But if you can get the hormones where they're supposed to be then you can Get the diet cleaned up then you Can clean up the gut when you clean up The gut and the liver you're now removing giant amounts of inflammation out of the body Now that you've started removing those giant amounts of inflammation, you're going to be less sore. Your body is going to have more oxygen available to it to work out with. It's going to heal a lot faster. You're going see your gains from the gym a lot faster than just the way everybody works is that if you put in some effort, you want to see some return. And so the easiest way to start seeing that return from the gym is to be ready for the gym when you get there.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:36] So if you start hormones day one, you do a you kill and refill process for you know, four to five weeks, you know while you're fixing your diet and you know that type of thing, trying to clean up your sleep maybe a little bit during that period. Now you're kind of ready, your body's kind of healthier and it's ready to take that next challenge on then you can start exercising in a pretty good clip. And now everything starts coming together. Now you're just kind of on maintenance. Like how do I make sure the parasites stay at bay? How do I to make sure I'm getting the nutrients in? I need to hit my goals, whether that's lose 10 pounds of fat or gain 10 pounds of muscle or swap 10 pounds fat for 10 pounds muscle. That will kind of depend on where you want to go there. But just at that point, so just take that back. Like you're not trying to get a six pack or anything else, but you now, you've cleaned up your diet, you got your hormones where they're supposed to be. Started working out. Look how much healthier you are. Like, just think about all those things together, you know, just how they integrate into your life. And that's kind of the way to start going.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:35] Now you can get crazy like I have and have oxygen concentrators hooked to CPAPs, you know, in your in your sleep routine. And I've got the sleep number bed, and I've got the sleep eight system, and I've got all the stuff for sleep to maximize sleep, you know, and I'm taking 40, now I'm taking probably 25 or 30 supplements three times a day just because of where I want everything to go. So the big thing on this is that you get to decide how you're going to be, how you are going to feel in 20 years, in 30 years. You just need to start making that decision now and start actively moving towards it. If you need any encouragement, Go to a retirement home. Go see those guys in their 70s, 80s and 90s and go see how they move. Go see how they feel. Ask them what you know, how their life has been asking you know if there's if they've got any, you know how their health is and how it feels when they move around and then realize there's a good chance because if you're 40, you're talking to somebody who's 80 or 90. There's a very high chance that you're going to feel worse than they do. Because, you know, when you get to that age, because you've had a lot more toxins, you've had a lot more stress, you had a lot less sleep, you got like the food quality, like everything for you has been worse than it was for that 80 year old. Because they're like, for me, they'd be 40 years older than me. And so, like, as our food's gotten worse, and our stress has gotten worse. They've only had to live in that for the past like 40 years.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:01] And guess what? You know, if they were 40 or 50, when all the stress started hitting, they were on the downhill slope of their life anyway. Like they were, they were got their careers going. They got the kids going, all that sort of stuff. So they didn't, they weren't taking all this pressure in the teeth as they were getting older. So you are. And so kind of factor that in and the best idea is to plan the life you want. Like, how do I want to be when I'm 50, 60, 70, 80, 90? You get to decide that now. But the problem is you've got to decide now. And so if you decide, oh, I'll do something later. All right. That's cool, but you're making decisions today that are affecting tomorrow regardless. So kind of keep that in mind as you're going through. You really think about that. I think that's probably the thing that has motivated me the most to do what I would do what i'm doing now. Because I want to be able to play with my kids and my grandkids. And so that means I've got a plan for it. And that's why I do the exercises I do. That's why take the solvents I take. And that's what I maintain everything I've gotten. So that's kind of where my head is on it. If you guys are like I just want that one someone that's going to do this for me We've got some great supplements, but it works better as a total whole thing that you put together and work all the way through.
